1 Timothy:
Timothy takes over the church of Ephesus. His task is to correct doctrinal error. (chapter 1). At that time the ideas of the Gnostic began to spread in the church among the leaders.
Major Gnostic Ideas
1. Old Testament is completely irrevalent
2. There is no wrath of God
3. All physical things are evil; including your flesh so It doesn't matter what you do with your body - you are saved in your heart so it doesn't matter how you live.
4. They were against any moral law (teaching)
5. Jesus is one of the many manifestations of God
6. Changed the Bible to make it more inclusive
